Xperia PLAY a fost deja lansat de Sony Ericsson, special pentru pasionatii de jocuri, cu un ecran de 4 inci cu rezolutie 480×854 pixeli, asa cum se zvonea, cu multitouch capacitiv.
Procesorul este Qualcomm Snapdragon de 1 GHz cu accelerare grafica Adreno GPU si ofera o viteza de 60 fps. Platforma de operare este Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Memoria telefonului este de pana la 400MB si exista un card inclus microSD 8GB, memoria putand fi extinsa pana la 32GB.
Telefonul mai are o camera foto de 5 megapixeli si, daca tot am vorbit de gaming, butoanele functionale necesare: buton digital pentru controlul directiei, doua zone directionale pentru control touch si cele patru butoane caracteristice consolelor PlayStation: cerc, cruce, patrat si triunghi.

Pentru jocuri, exista parteneriate incheiate cu producatori precum EA Games, Gameloft, asa ca Xperia PLAY va avea disponibile titluri ca The Sims 3, FIFA 10, Assassin’s Creed [review Brotherhood], Splinter Cell [review Splinter Cell Conviction], dar si Guitar Hero, prin GLU Mobile/Activision.
In plus, va exista un acord cu Unity Technologies pentru a aduce o serie de jocuri 3D.
Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY va fi disponibil pe piata din Romania incepand cu martie 2011. Momentan, pretul nu este cunoscut.
